Kaddatz Galleries is a vibrant arts nonprofit dedicated to promoting and preserving the visual arts in our community. Position Overview
Kaddatz Galleries is seeking a friendly, dependable Gallery Staff member to serve as the welcoming face of our organization. This part-time position is ideal for someone who loves the arts, enjoys meeting people, and takes pride in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for gallery visitors. Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Hours: 5-10 hours per pay period / 10-20 hours per month Schedule: Primarily Saturdays, with occasional Thursday evening shifts during special events and receptions Compensation: $13.00/hour Benefits: This is a part-time position without benefits PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospitality & Visitor Services (Primary Focus) Greet all gallery visitors with warmth and enthusiasm Create a welcoming, inclusive environment for patrons of all backgrounds Answer questions about current exhibitions, artists in the gift gallery, and gallery programs Provide exceptional customer service that reflects the gallery's mission and values Sales & Transactions Process sales of artwork and gift gallery items Proper handling and packaging of merchandise Handle cash, credit card, and check transactions accurately Assist customers with gift gallery purchases and provide information about artists Front Desk Operations Manage the reception desk during scheduled shifts Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries professionally Direct visitors and provide information about gallery hours and events Monitor visitor flow and maintain a safe, comfortable environment Gallery Maintenance Perform light cleaning duties in the gift gallery area Dust and clean merchandise displays to maintain presentation quality Ensure the gallery space remains neat, organized, and inviting Report any maintenance concerns to gallery management Event Support Assist with occasional evening receptions and special events as scheduled Help with event setup and breakdown as needed Provide hospitality services during gallery events QUALIFICATIONS Required Genuine enthusiasm for the arts and community engagement Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Friendly, approachable demeanor with strong customer service orientation Reliability and punctuality Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Basic math skills for processing sales transactions Comfort with handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system Preferred Previous customer service or retail experience Interest in or knowledge of visual arts Familiarity with the Fergus Falls arts community Experience working in a nonprofit setting PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Capability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally Comfortable moving around the gallery space WORK ENVIRONMENT This position primarily takes place in an indoor gallery setting. The work environment is generally quiet and professional, with increased activity during special events and receptions. Staff will interact with diverse visitors, artists, and community members.
